A few years ago I
fancied trying dressmaking and enrolled on a beginners class at Millie Moon
with the wonderful Anna. I made a dress
that I loved and following the course I ordered a book (that shall remain
nameless), which came with downloadable patterns. I picked a pattern for a top and got to
work. Unfortunately I had no success
making the top because the pattern was so difficult to read – and I was totally
put off dressmaking! Recently I have
been thinking it might be time to try again.
I have been a
long time reader of the blog Tilly and the Buttons and some research showed her
book, Love at First Stitch (affiliate link), was highly recommended for
beginners due to the quality of the instructions.
I decided to start
with the Margot Pyjamas and I am really pleased with the outcome. The book contains simple step-by-step instructions
and has helpful photographs to illustrate.
The finished pyjama trousers are super-comfy and I love the fabric. Typically, I was between sizes and decided to opt for
the larger size. They are a little on
the generous size but as they are for lounging around it doesn’t matter and the
drawstring waist keeps them firmly up.
